Trust patron Kevin Sinfield awarded an OBE

We were delighted to hear that one of the Trust's patrons, rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield, was awarded an OBE in the 2021 Queen's Birthday Honours List.

Kevin already holds the honour of MBE, which was awarded to him in 2014 for his services to rugby, but this latest award recognises his huge achievements off the field with his Herculean fundraising efforts for The Ricky Casey Trust and the MND Association.

In March of this year Kevin ran 51 miles in 21 days as part of our Keepin' It Renal event, helping us to raise more than £18,000 to go towards more vital research into Renal Medullary Carcinoma.

This was on the back of his mammoth achievement of running seven marathons in seven consecutive days to honour his great friend and former teammate Rob Burrow — who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2019.

We can't think of a more worthy recipient of such an honour and we want to say a huge thank you to Kevin for all of the incredible work he does to help us and other charities.
