The Ricky Casey Trust supporting Black History Month with SAWN

As part of supporting Black History Month, our CEO Nicola Casey was invited as guest speaker at SAWN (Support and Action for Women's Network). This is a charity that supports black African women and their families. The support was amazing!

This is a fabulous women's network support group for black African women in our community. The team at SAWN help them thrive and become independent and confident individuals. We came in to help with the barrier and the embarrassment around health issues, and gave them a safe space to ask some questions around RMC and sickle cell.

Nicola was raising awareness for RMC (Renal Medullary Carcinoma) — sharing her story and highlighting the signs and symptoms, and the importance of the links to Sickle Cell trait — and encouraging them to talk about their fears of maybe going to the doctors, which has proven to be a problem in this community.

We look forward to meeting with this group in the future.
