Ellis goes Ultra

Ellis goes Ultra

Ellis, 23, (Nicola's son) did his first ever marathon to raise awareness in memory of Ricky. Ellis decided to push himself further by running 30 miles — proper ultra-marathon territory!

Ellis had a few wing men the whole way on bikes, keeping him hydrated and acting as traffic police — best friends Finley Scott, Will Cotton and Declan Debowski.

During his 30 miles, to help keep his pace, he was joined at various points by friends Aaron Rodgers, Kyle Clegg, Will Revil, Emelia Platt and Bobby Greenwood. These guys ran one by one alongside Ellis for a few miles. Ellis was more than grateful with this support.

Starting and finishing at the Farrar's Arms, Ellis ran throughout the hills and villages of Saddleworth, finishing with an outstanding time of 3 hours 50 minutes.

Patron Kevin Sinfield supported Ellis in his first 10k, along with two cycling groups: The Puncture Kings and the Springhead Vets (who covered the same route and did 51 miles to finish with Ellis). This was a team made up of friends of Ricky's from football and school.

Special thanks to our patron Kevin for his amazing support throughout this event. Kevin also ran over three marathons in the month of March to raise money for the Trust.

Kevin said, “Ellis smashed his 30 miles and should be very proud of his achievement.”
